Kimberly experienced profound loss early in her life and was raised by her grandmother alongside her two brothers. Her grandmother rose to the occasion as her sole support system, teaching Kimberly valuable lessons about perseverance and prosperity. Growing up in Great Neck, New York, Kimberly faced life's challenges with determination, never allowing her circumstances to define her.
Education became Kimberly's path to success. She attended Elizabeth City State University, a small HBCU in North Carolina, with a clear goal: to become a teacher. It was there that she found her calling, working tirelessly to overcome obstacles, including the rigorous National Teachers Exam. Kimberly's focus and tenacity led her to achieve her aspirations, and she used her inner strength to empower others through her work as an educator.
Three degrees and a distinguished career in education later, Dr. Kimberly Purvis has dedicated her life to shaping young minds and empowering the next generation. Retiring from the local school system after years of impactful service, she has transitioned into her role at Wor-Wic Community College, where she continues to make a profound difference. As Dean of Student Success, Dr. Purvis is passionate about seeing women on the Eastern Shore thrive, show up professionally, and inspire others through entrepreneurship and creativity.
